Why does my windows vista laptop make a light blowing sound?
I have windows vista and every so often I hear like a blowing sound from my laptop and was wondering what causes that sound? It seems to fade in and out every so often. Does it mean that some kind of quick scan is being done or something else??? Btw, I have Norton Internet Security. Thank you for anyone replying back.

My guess:
Because your laptop has fans in it… but they normaly on spin up if the system is getting hot.
The system gets hot when it is getting heavy usage, so when you use it, it gets hot, fans spin quicker, blowing noise.

It is the system fan… It keeps everything cool.

its the fan, nothing to worry about.
These laptop often activate there fans on a when needed bases, as there they often put a thermometer to tell the fans to speed up unless the temperature goes down.

Some are noisier than others. My sony Vaio FW is pretty quiet.
