How do you connect a windows 2000 computer through a wireless vista computer to the internet?

I'm trying to connect my windows 2000 desktop to the internet but the router is in a different room. I was thinking I could connect an ethernet cable from my wireless laptop to the desktop and bridge the connection. Any help on how I can do that? I don't want to buy a cross over cable unless there is no other way.Or maybe I could make one?

One of the nics, either the laptop or desktop may work as an auto crossover, so try the ethernet cable and see if you get link lights on both ends.

Otherwise, you can buy a little crossover adaptor that will fit on the end of your ethernet cable to convert it to a crossover cable.
