how do you turn off font smoothing in ie 7?

I installed ie 7 and now anytime ie displays fonts it seems to use some kind of smoothing technique, which is really annoying on my lcd screen. I’ve tried eveything i can think of to turn that off and make it use normal, crisp, unsmoothed fonts, but i just cant find anything. does anyone have any idea how to do this? All of the typical windows related things to check pertaining to fonts and smoothing i’ve already checked and they’re fine. the whole system is fine, it’s just the fonts rendered within the ie7 page rendering area that come out that way. They use adjacent red and blue lines which i guess are supposed to cancel each other out due to color contrast and appear as a black line. But i dont see a black line. I see adjacent red and blue lines, and i see several tiny black lines going across them, where the break is inbetween the pixels on the monitor. It’s driving me nuts. and it’s not that i have a crappy monitor. it’s 1280×1024… i just have good eyesight and an anal mind ![]()
