I am doing some early research on laptops. I am thinking on buying a new laptop within the next year. I have narrow my selection to 3 options:

Dell Inspiron
HP Pavilon
Apple Mac

I am attending Baylor University. Most of my classmate have a mac. Are macs really worth it? I know macs are better with viruses. I am not a gamer; however, I do like to use picture tools for editing. I do not want to spend more than 2K in my new laptop. Will an IBM better with the new Windows Vista? What software will I need for the mac besides the Office software? Overall, what is better for a college guy an IBC or a Mac?

I asked my brother to build a computer for me for college. I told him I wanted a very fast computer that wouldn’t be obsolete in a year.
This is what he came back with. Tell me if it’s worth it.

I’m sorry, it is DDR2, And I don’t understand how a 2.0GHZ Dual Core HT Proc is “Low-End” I don’t know much about computers, maybe I typed some of the specs incorrectly. I was generally asking if the computer itself was worth $1200.

I need a laptop for college. I always been a pc user but have been told by many people that macbooks are very good. I know it can run both windows and mac os. Only thing i dont like about the macbook is the keyboard.And i heard it gets dirty easily.I dont plan in majoring in graphics or anything like that. Price is not a major consern but considered. So if anyone can help that would be really great. Thanks. Oh. also i heard about Windows Vista, is a macbook windows vista capable? Thanks.

I’m upgrading to a new laptop, this one I’ve had for almost 7 years, its a dell inspiron w/ windows 2000 or something, works pretty good but I have to give it to my parents, I’m going to college and I want to make sure everything on this computer that wasn’t here when I bought it is gone, all the memory from the internet, all that stuff.
