Will an inexpensive PC with an Sempron or Celeron processor play my pc games requiring Pentium proccessors?
i just need a computer that has XP so i can use certain programs like adobe reader 7 and such. right now i have a 10 year old gateway with 733 mhz pentium 3 proccessor and i play games like civ3 and sim city 4(barely plays sim city 4 so i quit playing it) i’ve also only got 192 ram. and i run windows ME(wich sucks). so i’ve been thinking of getting a cheaper walmart sold PC with a celeron or sempron processor both of wich have at least 512 of ram and windows XP. some even have flat screen monitors all for around 400 bucks( am on a budget preparing to bring my fiancee into the country). what should i get? will this new system with non pentium processors play my old games?(i’m not worried about playing the newer graphic intensive games.) some one with good computer Knowlege please help.
Why does Windows Media Play rip CDs without figuring out the title of the album and the song names?
I own the CDs – I just want the music in mp3 format for the iPod. But Windows Media Player gives the albums nearly useless directory names: Unknown Album (6-20-2006 7-49-05 PM).
and equally cryptic song named: 01 Track 1.mp3. Is there a way to make WMP any smarter about this? Or should I just find a better ripper?
I downloaded WinAmp and it is seeing the names ok. Kenny Burell’s Blue Muse is the album. WMP couldn’t figure out Pat Matheney or any other. It looks like in Windows Media Player in Tools/Options/Privacy you have to check Update Music Files by retrieving media info from the internet. And then that works too. Winamp freebie seems slower than the Windows Media Player so I’ll probably go back to it. Thanks!
Where is this QuickTime setting stored?
I am running QuickTime 7.1 on Windows 2000, and I thought that the preferences would be “per user”, that is, if one user changed his preferences, it would not affect another user’s preferences. But I opened the QuickTime Preferences with one user, and under the Browser tab, there is a “Play movies automatically” checkbox. I unchecked that. Then I logged in as a different user, and I noticed that it was unchecked for that user too (it was checked before).
Does anyone know why QuickTime lets users change the preferences for all users?
Or can someone answer this simpler question: Where is the setting for that checkbox stored? Is it a registry key somewhere?
Sean I.T.: I installed it to C:Program FilesQuickTime.
Sean I.T.: You’re talking about the folders under C:Documents and Settings. You’re not supposed to install anything in there. Programs should be installed into C:Program Files, which is where I installed QuickTime.
Getting a Dvd Player to Play Cd-Rw of Mp3’s?
I have Windows XP and Media Player 10. I need to make a cd of Mp3’s that will play in my Dvd player… I made one that plays in One player but not another that has Mp3 playback. Do I need to close the session somehow? or what can I do?
