hi, i have a 2yo system which is struggling under the new windows vista beta. i have a pentium 4 2.8ghz, 1gb ram, with nvidia geforce fx 5700le on an asus p4c800e motherboard.

i’m considering just upgrading the graphics card to a faster agp card — any suggestions? also, what sort of processor upgrade can i fit on the asus motherboard?

I have a 6 yr. old Gateway that came with Windows 98 that I subsequently upgraded to XP. It has become clogged with so much spyware and who knows what else that I thought I would reformat the harddrive and reinstall the original OS. The system restore disc seemed to be working fine until I come to a point where it instructs me to reinsert the CD in order to continue the process. At this point I get a message telling me that it can’t find the CD, even though it completed 1/2 the process from the very same CD. I can’t see any way around this. Any suggestions?

What is a good utility app to monitor the temperature of my system? Or does Windows XP include anything?

My PC became very slow after 2 years. The OS installed is XP; when I first bought it, it was quite good. Many things are installed in my system tray; when I tried to run msconfig from RUN to disable some startups, I found that many things I am not sure if I should disable them or leave them there. Thanks for any input!
