How to improve Windows XP?
My PC became very slow after 2 years. The OS installed is XP; when I first bought it, it was quite good. Many things are installed in my system tray; when I tried to run msconfig from RUN to disable some startups, I found that many things I am not sure if I should disable them or leave them there. Thanks for any input!

On XP Pro, how do you stop the annoying “balloons” comming from the system tray?
I seem to get so many balloon text messages from normal programs on my system tray. For instance: If I turn off my network card (laptop), I repeatedly get a stupid balloon bubble stating that my network is not up (Duh!). On top of that, it show up on top of any programs I currently have running. This happens about every 5-10 minutes and without my mouse cursor hovering over any of the system tray icons. Is there any way, in Windows XP, to combat this annoying behavior?
